| Senate passes legislation to increase legal immigration and border security

On May 25, 2006 the United States Senate passed the “Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act” in hopes to increase US border security and encourage immigrants to enter the country legally. | New Jersey rejects the death penalty, joining 13 other states

The death penalty has been a touchy issue for numerous years throughout the world, let alone the United States. Just this past year Wisconsin’s legislature did not have the people vote on an amendment, but did have them give their opinions to the question of bringing back the death penalty. On Dec. 17, 2006, New Jersey’s Governor Jon Corzine signed a bill banning capital punishment, making New Jersey the first state in more than four decades to reject capital punishment. read more
