Chester's Renovation Provides Expansion
Story by Cassie Reilly
Some people may be worried about the recent demolition of Chester’s Drive-In. However, according to Mr. Scott Richards it will still be the same food and staff.
Some may wonder why they are doing the renovation because Chester’s looked fine and dandy. The renovation was necessary because the building was getting old. It was built in 1954 and hasn’t actually been renovated since. Also, in the past three years it has almost burnt down twice. Plus, the plumbing is old and this will be more cost effective.
The biggest change is that there will be two bathrooms, instead of just one. Another one of the biggest changes will be a basement. The basement is for more storage, and safety in case there is any bad weather. It will also be more modernized and functional. Hau and Sippel is the construction company doing the renovation.

There are not any changes in employees, food, or prices that are expected. Richards is hoping the renovation draws in fall business. “We are usually very busy in the spring, but in the fall we have a slight down in customers,” Richards said.
Richards said the renovation started the last week in October and will be completed March 16. The biggest delay has been the gas company not shutting off the gas. Chester’s is projected to open March 26.
This year the Christmas trees will not be available at Chester’s due to the construction. However, they will return next year. For Richards this will be sad, because he always gets his Christmas tree there.
Many people are excited to see the return of Chester’s with a new look. “Opening up and getting another hamburger,” said Richard’s, is what he is looking forward to the most about the renovation. |
