4500,000 Men, Women and Children are Dead in Darfur

February 2003 marks the start of the genocide in Darfur. Darfur is a country in the western region of Sudan, Africa roughly the size of Texas. In 2003, two rebel groups made up by Darfurians decided they had had enough neglect from their government and rebelled. Sudan’s capital is known as Khartoum, and its government sponsored the aid of the Janjaweed militia. read more

UW-Madison Band's Hazing Suspension

The Madison Marching Band gives just as much of a show as the football team; they have been playing in the fifth quarter since 1977. The post game show lasts about 45 minutes after the game. The band is known across the country for its marching style and crazy performances. However, on October 5, Chancellor John Wiley put the band on probation for hazing and rowdiness involving sexual and alcoholic acts, according to the Associated Press. read more
